Are cats more expensive than dogs to insure?
Asked 2 years ago
I have 2 year old dog and my wife and kids really want to adopt a kitten or cat. I've heard that they are more expensive to insure. This won't deter us, but I'd like to know if it's true so that I can do some financial forecasting.

Cats are typically less expensive to insure than dogs, but this can vary based on the breed and type of coverage you buy. A policy for a cat with unlimited coverage costs an average of $47 per month. However, the insurance company and the cat's age influence how much you will pay. Be prepared that your cat's insurance rates will probably rise every year at renewal time as your pet gets older.
