How do I stop my dog from chewing on furniture and other household items?
Asked a year ago
My dog chews on everything - the couch, the coffee table, the bed base. We've really invested a lot of money into these items and hate to see them spoil. How can we correct this behavior?

Dogs chew for many reasons: boredom, puppy teething, anxiety. Never scold your dog for chewing — it’s a natural instinct and sometimes a coping mechanism. Instead, provide alternative and acceptable chews like antlers or strong rubber toys. If you catch your dog chewing the furniture, immediately offer a replacement option. Also, make sure your dog gets enough exercise and mental stimulation — a tired dog is less likely to chew things up.
