Is pet insurance tax deductible?
Asked 2 years ago
I have to do my taxes soon and just got all my pets insured this year. I was wondering if pet insurance is tax deductible but I'm aware they need to meet a certain criteria to be eligible. What will allow me to claim taxes from what I've spent on pet insurance?

If your dog is a service animal or works in the entertainment industry (whether that’s acting in commercials or posing for print ads), expenses like pet insurance could be tax deductible. Unfortunately, this doesn’t apply to Emotional Support Animals (ESA) in most cases, and never to dogs you just share your home with. Always talk to an accountant to see if your dog qualifies for a tax deduction.
