Do you pay the vet before you claim with pet insurance?
Asked 2 years ago
I just got pet insurance and I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row in case anything happens. In the event that I have to go to the vet for an emergency, do I pay the vet myself and then claim? Or should I claim first?

It sounds like you planned and protected your pet's health! Unfortunately, the reimbursement process varies between insurance companies. Most pet insurance companies require you to pay the vet first and then get reimbursed for the costs. However, there are pet insurance companies that have a streamlined system and can pay your vet directly. This will depend on the company you bought the policy from.
