Are vaccinations covered by pet insurance?

Asked 2 years ago

I have to take both my cat and dog to get their regular vaccinations. I just got them insured last year and never had a reason to claim yet (thankfully). But I am wondering if my pet insurance can cover these vaccination costs?

Pet insurance focuses on accident-and-illness coverage and usually doesn’t cover anything considered “preventive,” such as vaccines. Sometimes it’s possible to pay for an add-on known as wellness (routine) coverage, but you should do the math and see if it’s worth it or if it’s better to just pay for vaccines out of pocket.
