Are all breeds of dogs covered by pet insurance in America?
Asked 2 years ago
First, I don't believe that any dog breed should be banned by insurance companies - because I believe a dog is the result of how they are trained and treated. But I am aware certain breeds are discriminated against. Does anyone know what these breeds are?

Homeowner's and renter's insurance policies discriminate against some dog breeds. This is because the insurance sees you and your dog as a liability if you own a breed such as a Doberman Pinscher, Bullmastiff, Great Dane, Pitbull, German shepherd, or Rottweiler. Pet insurance companies cover all breeds of dogs. However, you may pay more for breeds predisposed to certain illnesses or conditions. You will pay lower pet insurance rates for mixed breeds. The most expensive dogs to buy pet insurance are purebreds, short-nosed dogs, and large-breed dogs.
